The effect of three different resistance training methods on IGF-1 and thigh and arm hypertrophy in semi-professional bodybuilders

Abstract :
The aim of study was to investigate the effect of 3different resistance training methods on IGf-1 and thigh and arm hypertrophy in semi-professional bodybuilders.This applied and semi-experimental study had 3 experimental groups and pre- and post-tests. The statistical population was male bodybuilders from Karthar with 3 years of experience (18-23 years),36 of whom were selected and divided by simple random method into 3 groups of 12 people each, including:1.Resistance-plyometric training,2.Resistance-elastic training,and 3. Resistance-stretching training group.In the present study,each of the 3 active groups performed their training programs 3 sessions per week for 8 weeks with an intensity of 70- 85%.The research variables were measured before and after the training program.The Shapiro-Wilk test was used for normal distribution of data, and the Levin test and analysis of covariance were used for intra-group and inter-group significance studies in the pre-test and post-test. All statistical operations were performed using SPSS/22 software and the significance level of the tests was considered at p≥0.05.The research findings showed that IGF-1 levels increased significantly in all three research groups (P=0.001).Arm muscle mass increased significantly in the resistance-elastic training group and thigh muscle mass increased significantly in the resistance-plyometric training group (P=0.001).This resistance exercises, which simultaneously put more pressure on the muscles, can be introduced as a new training method to replace traditional exercises.
