Abstract :
Various works have been done about allegory in the poetry of poets, and especially in the poetry of Rumi, but nothing has been done in a case-by-case manner. There are four interpretations regarding the definition and interpretation of allegory, three of which are the views of the earlier Iranian-Islamic rhetoric and are not the purpose of this study. In this research, an attempt has been made to study the use of "ant" in Masnavi according to the fourth interpretation, that is, using the story of animals (allegory). Out of about forty uses of ants in the six books of Masnavi, Rumi has used the allegory in the modern form of allegory about ants only twice. It is obvious that according to the nature of allegory and Rumi's goal in Masnavi, the end of these allegories is education and their foundation is "ethics". Although allegories are used because of their simplicity, but allegories of mystical texts such as Masnavi They are more simple and accessible.. This research has been done in an analytical and descriptive manner and in a library method, and the general achievement is that Rumi is one of the poets who read parables.
