Abstract :
This research seeks to assess the consequences of development in Iran. In this way, with the approach of qualitative method and using a semiotic technique inspired by Pierce's views. In this study, eight movies were selected from the new wave movies of the 40s and 50s and used different levels of theories to find answers to the questions of this study. The results show that "Western modernization", and "Westernization" are the categories represented as the consequences of development in these films. Because development means economic growth, Europeanization of customs, and living in a big city, but also a particular way of thinking about people and life that the films in question have not represented.
