Abstract :

Unilateral sanctions go beyond multilateral sanctions imposed by the Security Council under the Charter of the United Nations. In this research, we are looking for the question that what is the nature of US sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran in the light of international sanctions law? US sanctions has been of a mixed nature in the context of congressional and Treasury sanctions, as well as in the context of multilateral sanctions imposed by international organizations and in terms of international law governing sanctions it could only have legal validity in the absence of a bilateral treaty. Various laws in the United States allow US institutions to impose unilateral sanctions on other countries. Sanctions within the framework of the internal resources of the United States of America include: executive orders or decrees of the President, congressional sanctions of states, sanctions of states and governorates, and the Constitution of the United States.
