Abstract :
The values arising from Shia Islam, the layers of Iranian culture, and the Constitution shape the identity of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The international system was in conflict with the Islamic world system, which made it unacceptable to the foreign policy of Ahmadinejad's government. The national goals and interests are defined based on Islamic ideals, values, and the principles of Islam and of the Revolution. The economic and security interests, and the interests based on the international system are also sought in the foreign policy arena. For regulating and directing foreign relations, Ahmadinejad's government relied on several basic principles. The most important of these principles included kindness, justice in international relations, balanced development in relations with foreign countries, membership in more economic, political, and security institutions, confrontation with the unipolar international system, and multilateralism in foreign policy.
