Abstract :
This article examines Erdogan;s personality and Turkey;s policies towards Syria. Due to special perceptual-psychological nature, Erdoğan;s cult of personality and desire to promote Turkey ;s position as a symbol of pragmatic Islamic policies and competition with rivals, he has chosen Syria as a suitable place to implement his regional security strategy. During the recent crisis in Turkish-Syrian relations and the direct military confrontation between the military forces of the two countries, this issue shows the importance of Syria ;s position in Turkey;s regional political and security strategy. The question raised in this article is, what were the reasons for Erdogan;s government;s tendency to be present in Syria? The temporary answer to the current question is that Turkey ;s security presence in Syria originates from the neo-Ottoman policies of the Justice and Development Party and Erdogan himself as the basic agent of the political structure of strategic and security decisions.
