Abstract :
Abstract Anguilliformes order is one of fish resources in Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. They have ornamental and nourishing value in some species. This research was for revising taxonomic and systematic defects of them. The whole samples were collected from the south coast of Iran included: Chabahar, Bushehr, Bandar Abbas, Bandare Lengeh, and the rest was from museums, universities and research centers in Iran during a year. The whole ichthyology valid published references in this area were considered. The result showed that from among 27 studied samples, only 10 samples presented in this article belong to congridae, Muraenesocidae, Muraenidae, Ophichthidae,and Nettastomatidae; Synaphobranchidae have maximum diversity in this research area. Pseudoxenomystax Albeacens, Muraenesox bagio, Congeresox talabon, Congeresox talabonoides, Gymnothorax lohnsoni, Gymnothorax kidako, Strophidon sathete, Rhinomuraena questathete, Hoplunnis diomedianus, and Synaphobranchus affinis are recorded in Persian Gulf and Oman Sea (i.e. Iranian sea zone) for the first time.
