Abstract :

Postmodern has been translated to mean ambiguity and complexity. Some Iranian writers have created their works considering the political, social, and cultural conditions of the country and by being in the intellectual stream of this school or under the influence of the specific structure and language of postmodernism. Ahmad Mahmoud (1931-2002) is one of the novelists of the Southern School, which is on the historical and political path - the nationalization of the oil industry - of this literary and philosophical school. The purpose of this article is to examine the impact of the story "The Neighbors" by Ahmad Mahmoud on the Southern School and its postmodern components. The authors of this article have attempted to determine the extent to which this author uses postmodern concepts and components by examining and analyzing the story "The Neighbors". In this article, we focus on Components such as the negation of totality , comprehensiveness, the denial of the integrated identity of the individual and the community, invalidation of ideology, denial of fixed and objective truth … It has been emphasized as the components of postmodern .The result obtained is that attention to social themes, indigenous and regional identity, along with characteristics such as breaking traditional laws and rules, combining and intersecting cultures, combining reality and fantasy, etc., constitute the most important components of Ahmad Mahmoud's fictional literature influenced by postmodernism and the Southern School in the story "Neighbors."
