Gender and Information Technology: Suggestions to Encourage the Use of IT in Islamic Azad University in Iran

Abstract :
This research attempts to explain the relation between gender and use of information technology and introduce a way to develop the use of information technology in Islamic Azad University in Iran. The goal of the study has been focused on comparison between men and women and the amount of information technology (IT) usage and also investigating the effect of IT among experts in Islamic Azad University. The design of the present study was a descriptive survey. The population comprised of all of the experts in Islamic Azad University in Islamshahr (N=109) who were selected through availability sampling. The instrument was a researcher-made questionnaire with desirable validity and reliability (α=0/88). Data analysis was done using one sample t-test and independent groups t-test. Finally, the findings of the research showed that men more than women use the information technology. Also, the use of IT in Islamic Azad University is considered to be average (or as was expected) by experts.
