Abstract :
Love and affection are central themes in both theoretical and practical mysticism. Aḥmad Ghazāli (d. 1126 AD), a key figure in Islamic mysticism, was the first to systematically discuss and formalize mystical love in his work "The Lover's Tales." He viewed love as originating from affection and compassion, emphasizing soul purification as essential for its development. Ghazāli considered metaphorical love a means to reach true love, with the ultimate aim of perceiving truth through the heart’s eye. Romantic mysticism often leads to beliefs in attaining mystical perfection via love, shath, samāʿ, and beauty-worshipping traditions. In this research, the author tries to deal with the subject of love and its important role and place in mystical tendencies with a descriptive-analytical method and to express the theoretical and mystical principles of romantic and aesthetic mysticism with a look at aesthetic traditions. The findings of this research indicate that: Love is the main theme of Ghazali's works, especially in " The Lover's Tales ." This love, which stems from knowledge and awareness, exists not only in his works but also in his spiritual and mystical tendencies. The beauty traditions are a path to reach the true love.
