Abstract :

AbstractSocial trust and religious commitment are two social and very useful concepts that have been considered by researchers today. Many other variables and factors can be involved in the connection between these two concepts. Purpose of the present article; Investigating the relationship between social trust and students' religious commitment. Quantitative and survey research method was performed using a questionnaire technique with a sample size of 400 people among students of Payame Noor universities in Semnan province in the academic year of 1398-99 and a relative class sampling method was used. Exploratory factor analysis and correlation tests have been used to analyze the data. Findings suggest that there is a positive and significant relationship between students' religious commitment and social trust. That is, with increasing social trust, religious commitment is achieved, and vice versa. In addition, the results showed a positive and significant relationship between dimensions of social trust (institutional trust, interpersonal trust and generalized trust) and variables of religiosity (belief, ritual, experimental and consequential). The results showed that social trust has the most significant relationship with the ritual dimension of religious adherence. And it has no significant relationship with the experimental dimension.Keywords: social trust, religious commitment, institutional trust, generalized, personal, ritualistic, experimental dimension, consequence.
