Abstract :
This study investigates the effectiveness of teacher-made conceptual maps and multimedia teacher-made conceptual maps on the learning process at two levels of knowledge and supra knowledge and also the motivation of the female third graders guidance school students in Zanjan. The study was a quasi-experimental one with pretest and posttest in which there were one control group and two experimental groups. There were three classes with 25 students available for each group for the purpose of the study. The control group was an intact group but the experimental group (1) Were treated for 10 sessions with teacher-made conceptual maps and the experimental group (2) were treated for 11 sessions with teacher-made conceptual maps and mixed multimedia method. The instruments used in this research were achievement test and MSLQ questionnaire. The results of data analysis through Co-variance indicated that the conceptual maps have great effect both on the learning performance and on promoting learning at the level of knowledge or at levels higher than knowledge; however, they are not effective regarding motivation on the scale of motivational beliefs (self-efficiency, inner valuation and examination anxiety) and on the scale of self-ordering learning strategies (utilizing self- ordering and learning strategies). Based on the obtained results it can be claimed that conceptual maps and multimedia do have an outstanding effect on improving the students' learning.
