Abstract :
Abstract The purpose of the present study was to effectiveness of schema therapy on emotional processing and self-efficacy belief in people with rheumatoid arthritis. The present study was a semi-experimental design of pre-test-post-test type with one experimental group and a control group with a 3-month follow-up test. The statistical population of this research included all the people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis under regular drug treatment, who had filed a case in Loqman Hospital in Tehran during 2021-2022 due to mechanical and non-inflammatory pains. The sampling method in this research was firstly targeted sampling and 40 people (20 people in each group) were selected as a sample. From emotional processing questionnaires by Baker et al. (2007) and general self-efficacy by Scherer and Maddox (1982) was used to collect data. Also, Yang et al. 's (2003) schema therapy protocols were used for intervention. Mixed analysis with repeated measurements with SPSS version 25 software was used for data analysis. The results showed that the schema therapy was affective in improving the emotional processing and self-efficacy (P<0.01). according to the findings of the present study, the schema therapy approach can be used as an effective method in therapeutic interventions for rheumatoid arthritis patients.
