Abstract :
Abstract The purpose of this study was to comparison of emotion regulation in smoking and non-smoking students. The research method was casual-comparative and the statistical population included all student of university of Mohaghegh Ardabili during 1389-1390 (2010-2011). The statistical sample of the research included 80 smoking student and 80 no smoking student who were selected through voluntarily, and answered Gross & John emotion regulation questionnaire (2003). To analyze the data, t-test independent was used. The result of the research indicated a non-smoking students have reappraisal (as an positive emotion regulation strategy) and smoking students have suppression (as an negative emotion regulation strategy) was uses. It seems that emotion regulation disorder is the risk factors for smoking use in students.
