Abstract
Objective: One of the concepts in the field of human health which attracts widespread attention is the concept of social health. In general discussion of social health, not only human beings, but also their immediate surroundings are influential. Social support is an important factor which acts as a mediator variable between stress and mental illness improves people endurance and tolerance rate against problems leading to more self – reliance toward active attendance in society. The present study investigated the effects of social support on social health. Method: This study was a survey and its statistical population included the young women aging 15 to 24 in Isfahan. The sample was as large as 200 using the Cochrane's formula. The sampling method was classification corresponding to individual distribution in the city. Material and tools: The tool used in this survey was a questionnaire of two sections. To investigate the social support, a questionnaire by Hossein zadeh (2006) was used, and to study job satisfaction, another questionnaire by Bahmani (2009) whose validity was confirmed by the university masters. Finally, to study the dependent variable, Kenz's social health questionnaire has been used. Findings: the findings in this research showed that the young females having higher social support rate to some extent had higher social health, and vice versa. The same relation also existed between three – fold components of social support (tool support, sensitive, informative) and social health.
