Abstract
Objective: Prevalence of depression and lower quality of life in diabetic patients is higher than in general population. Diabetes effects on quality of life of patients and increases depression. The aim of this study therefore was to compare depression and quality of life in diabetic and non-diabetic patients. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 100 patients who referred to diabetes research center, Tabriz and 100 non-diabetic subjects were selected by available sampling method. Samples were assessed by Beck Depression Test and Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL- 26). Data were analyzed by independent t tests in SPSS 16. Results: The results showed that there were significant differences between women and men regarding diabetes, variability depression and quality of life, Also there were significant differences between diabetic and non diabetic patients in variables of depression and quality of life. Conclusion: Diabetes patients have depression and poor quality of life, thus preventing these factors can be useful for the patients.
