Fauna of aquatic and semi-aquatic bugs (Hem.: Heteroptera) in Varzaqan region, Azarbaijan-e-sharghi Province, Iran

Abstract :

A faunstic study was carried out on aquatic and semi-aquatic Heteroptera in Varzaqan (Azarbaijan-e-sharghi, Iran), during 2013. A total of nine species belonging to five families and six genera were collected and identified. Among the collected species three species are considered as new records for Azarbaijan-e-sharghi marked by an asterisk. The species are listed according to their families as follows: 1. Corixidae: Corixa sp. Sigara (Eremocorixa)iranica (Lindberg, 1984) * Sigara (Vermicorixa) lateralis (Leach, 1817) Sigara (Pseudovermicorixa) nigrilineata nigroleata (Fieber, 1848) 2. Gerridae: Gerris (Gerris) costae fieberi (Stichel, 1832)* Gerris (Gerris) thoracicus (Schummel, 1832)* 3. Hydrometridae: Hydrometra stagnorum (Linnaeus, 1758) 4. Notonectidae: Notonecta viridis (Delcourt, 1909) 5. Saldidae: Saldula arenicola (Scholtz, 1874) All of the collected species have been confirmed by Dr. P. Moulet (Museum Requien) and keep in insect collection of the Islamic Azad University, Tabriz Branch's Insect Collection.
