Abstract :
Considering of importance of the family Chalcididae (Hym.: Chalcidoidea) in biological control, this study was conducted to survey the fauna of the genus Brachymeria Westwood (Hym.: Chalcididae, Chalcidinae) in Azarbaijan-e-Sharghiprovince, Iran. During 2008-2012 using Malaise traps, netting and pan traps several of the specimens were collected. As a result, 10 species were identified, out of which, two species that marked with an asterisk, are newly recorded for the Iranian fauna of Chalcididae. The Brachymeria excarinata (Gahan), B. femorata (Panzer), B. hibernalis Askew*, B. minuta (L.), B. obtusata (Förster), B. parvula (Walker), B. podagrica (Fabricius), B. secundaria (Ruschka)*, B. tibialis (Walker) and B. vitripennis (Förster). Biological, morphological and geographical information as well as an identification key for the entire known species of the genus Brachymeria in Azarbaijan-e-Sharghiprovince were given.
