Abstract :
Safety and hygiene are essential components of sports facilities, as accidents can have irreversible consequences for athletes. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and hygiene status of sports halls in Sarab County. This descriptive-field study was conducted in 16 sports halls located in municipal, school, and other educational settings across Sarab. The study population included 237 participants (visitors, staff, and facility managers). Data were collected using a questionnaire derived from safety and hygiene checklists for sports facilities and analyzed with descriptive statistics. Compliance with standards was as follows: construction and installations safety, 45.6%, spectator stands safety, 44.3%, sports equipment safety, 59.1%, and hygiene indicators 56.5%. Overall, sports halls in Sarab demonstrated a generally acceptable level of safety and hygiene; however, structural safety and spectator stands require targeted improvement. Enhancing these areas is likely to contribute to better health and safety outcomes for facility users.
