Abstract :
Considering the challenge of the lack of high-quality students in the accounting profession, the purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of four career beliefs on students' decision to study in accounting or finance. The four career beliefs include interesting work, job security, job variety and high earnings potential. Due to the importance of characteristic factors on the choice of major, age, gender, tolerance for ambiguity, education and occupation of relatives have also been investigated as the control variables in the research model. This research is quantitative research in the term of data collection and it is practical in the term of purpose. The statistical population of this research includes students of accounting and finance in 1403 who passed the course of accounting principles 1 and 2. For this purpose, 203 complete samples were collected from the questionnaire and the data were analyzed. The results of the research hypotheses test show that different career beliefs of interesting work influence the choice of major and the effects of different job beliefs on job security and high earnings potential are also Statistically significant. Therefore, if the belief of finance students that the accounting major includes interesting works increases, the probability of choosing accounting as a main major will increase.
