Abstract :
The present study aimed to investigate the impact of indigenous culture (Lur ethnic group) on the attitudes of secondary school students towards substance abuse, with the mediating role of attachment styles and identity styles. The method correlational-descriptive research method was path analysis type. The research population included all second-grade secondary school students in Khorramabad city who were studying during the academic year of 2021-2022. The sample size consisted of 380 students, selected using a proportional stratified sampling method. The measurement tools included standard questionnaires attitudes towards addiction (AAQ, Nazari, 2001), attachment style (RAAS, Collins and Reid, 1990), identity style (ISI-6G, Berzonsky, 1992) and a researcher-developed questionnaire on indigenous cultural beliefs. The findings showed that the model fit inwell. There is a direct and significant relationship between native cultural beliefs and students' attitudes towards addiction (P<0.05). Also, identity and attachment styles mediated the relationship between native cultural beliefs and students' attitude towards substance use (P<0.05).Therefore, indigenous cultural beliefs can play a key role in shaping students' positive or negative attitudes towards substance use. Consequently, identifying risk factors and strengthening protective factors can have a significant impact on preventing addiction among different Iranian ethnic groups.
