Abstract :
Fish provides 16 percent of consumed protein of the word's population. There has been arisen ever-growing attention to the aquaculture industry due to fishing harvest restriction in the seas. This study aimed to investigate the production structure of trout farms in Tehran province by applying translog cost function and seemingly unrelated regression models. The data was obtained from 20 trout culture farms in Tehran Province. The results suggested that homogeneous and homothetic hypotheses of production function were rejected while the hypothesis of unitary substitution elasticity of inputs was accepted. The own-price elasticity's of inputs demand was negative in all cases. Moreover, the results of cross-elasticity implied substitution relationship among inputs expect for food and dry inputs which were complementary. Finally, according to the result, trout culture industry enjoyed economies of scale.
