Abstract :
In recent years, good governance as one of the influencing factors on environmental variables has attracted the attention of economic and political decision makers. The present study investigates the relationship between governance and environmental pollution in selected developing and developed countries during 1990-2020. To do this, the non- autoregressive distributed lag model, which allows examining possible non-linear associations among variables, is applied. The results of this survey show that there are significant differences in the impact of governance measures on the level of carbon dioxide emissions in developed and developing countries. For instance, the magnitude of the effect of a positive shock to economic governance on CO2 emissions in developed nations is roughly twice of that of developing countries.
