Identification of Factors Affecting Farmers Participation in Irrigation and Drainage Networks of Bushehr Province

Abstract :
This study is an applied research using a descriptive and also considered as a quasi - experimental research. The population of this study was all 11,300 farmers in the province of Bushehr in 1391. Using the Cochran formula, the number of population sample determined 226. The purpose of Study was to identify factors affecting farmers' participation in the management of irrigation and drainage systems. As a result, the participation of beneficiaries in the management of irrigation and drainage networks was moderate. Based on the results of factor analysis, five factors are more effective in the beneficiaries’ participation, which explain 57.96 percent of its variations in the management of irrigation and drainage networks, these include irrigation network and financial factors, conditions related to the administration history of manufacturing and services government, land conditions, accesses to water irrigation and job characteristics of farmers
