Abstract :
Associate professor, Islamic Azad University Talking about Shāh-nāmeh and its creator puts one to the peak of Iranian culture and literature. The verses of Shāh-nāmeh, epical composition, makes one feel proud. There may be a lot of studies carried on this great work; however, no one has ever studied how and under what condition it was created. What were the aims and purposes of the composition of the work? Can this great epical work be limited to nationalist and religious frames? Accepting the fact that Shāh-nāmeh has endured the test of time, as predicted by Ferdowsi himself, and that it gives a heavenly impression of Iranians' spirit, one question has remained unanswered : To what extent did the period in which Shāh-nāmeh was created affected its creation? Realizing the need for new research, we have tried to study the effects of the Sāmānids era, especially the effects of the Sāmānids statesmen' scholarship, on Ferdowsi. Doing so will enable us to say that the Sāmānids era can be called the era of knowledge and knowledge production movement
