Abstract :
In this paper, the issue of selfishness and narcissism, which is one of the important causes of human suffering and social injustice, is examined from Rumi's point of view and psychology, in that it is presented as a personality disorder called narcissistic. Appropriate recommendations and strategies for treatment and quitting the disease have been suggested. Moreover, "true self" and "false self", which are deceptive shadows of the real me, as well as selfishness from a different perspective, have been considered as positive selfishness, which is necessary for the preservation and protection of self-esteem. It can be stated that, for centuries, according to the holistic view and knowledge of human nature, as well as the theorists of modern psychology, each with its own expression,Rumi, has identifiednarcissism and conceit as a disease and behavioral disorder that is caused by false illusions and suspicions that are in turn due to factors such as wealth, position, beauty, scientific degrees, inappropriate flattery and praise of those around, etcthis feeling is strengthened in the person. This research is an attempt to better understand the harms and consequences of this disease, by changing the mindset and vain beliefs and by knowing the real self to be the basis of good thoughts and deeds, as Rumi has emphasized in his valuable teachings by expressing many anecdotes and moral points in the form of allegory.
