Abstract :
Non-verbal communication is one of the ways to create communication between people. In this type of communication, despite the fact that the element of speech is not involved in the transmission of the message, sometimes the extent and depth of its effect is much greater than verbal communication. The important issue is the application of this method of message transmission, especially the transmission of moral and educational values among writers and poets. 'Orfi Shirazi, a poet of the 10th century of Hejri, is one of the famous and literati who paid special attention to the use of non-verbal communication in his sonnets. Based on this, the aim of the present study is to investigate the nature and root of 'Orfi Shirazi purpose of using non-verbal communication in his sonnets. The main question of the current research is: "What is the most important customary goal of using non-verbal communication in his lyric poetry?" The hypothesis of the research is an emphasis on the fact that 'Orfi Shirazi has consciously used non-verbal communication in his sonnets in order to achieve two big and main goals. The findings of this research, by using the descriptive-analytical method and library sources, showed that firstly, the examples of sign language in 'Orfi Shirazi poetry are: 1. body movements and gestures, 2. eye contact, and 3. facial expressions and movements, and secondly, the conscious use of non-verbal communication with the main target the lyrical themes have been transferred.
