Abstract :
The aim of this study was to compare the expression levels of resistin gene in slow-twitch and fast-twitch muscle tissue of male Wistar rats fed a high-fat diet following six weeks of aerobic exercise and cinnamon supplementation. The present study was applied in terms of its purpose and experimental in terms of its research strategy, with a post-test design, and was conducted using library and laboratory methods. The statistical sample of the study included 50 two-month-old male Wistar rats, which were randomly divided into five groups after two weeks of maintenance under controlled conditions, each group containing ten rats. The rats had access to approximately 20 grams of pellets daily and 10-12 milliliters of water per 100 grams of body weight. The groups receiving the high-fat diet consumed 1.5 mg of high-fat food emulsion per kilogram of body weight daily. The aerobic exercise group participated in an aerobic exercise program on an electronic treadmill for six weeks, 5 days a week. The cinnamon extract group received 200 mg per kilogram of body weight for 6 weeks. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the data, and dependent t-tests, one-way analysis of variance, and Tukey's post hoc test were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the effects of high-fat diet, combination of high-fat diet and aerobic exercise, combination of high-fat diet and cinnamon, and combination of high-fat diet, aerobic exercise, and cinnamon on the resistin gene variable in slow-twitch muscle tissue and also slow-twitch muscle tissue were significant. (p ≥ 0.05). In addition, there was no significant difference between the expression of the resistin gene in slow-twitch and fast-twitch muscle tissue after six weeks of high-fat diet, but there was a significant difference in the other intervention groups.
