Predicting Academic Achievement of Middle School Students Based on Resilience, Social Skills, and Perfectionism

Abstract :
The present study aimed to predict the academic achievement of middle school students based on resilience, social skills, and perfectionism. The research was descriptive-survey in nature and used a correlational method. The statistical population of the study included all students of Imam Jafar Sadegh Middle School in Qom Province (350 people). The sample size was 74 people and was selected using a simple random sampling method. To collect data, three standard questionnaires and the students' grade point average were used as an indicator of progress. The reliability of the questionnaires was assessed using Cronbach's alpha. The alpha values were 0.890, 0.938 and 0.887, which indicate the appropriate reliability of the tools. Statistical analysis of the data was performed using Pearson correlation test and multiple regression using SPSS version 27 software. The findings showed that using the simultaneous regression analysis method, a meaningful model was obtained (adjusted R square = 0.369 and P < 0.05 and F = 15.219). This model explains 36.9% of the variance. Finally, no significant relationship was found between perfectionism and academic achievement, but there was a positive and significant relationship between resilience and social skills and academic achievement.
