Abstract :

The most significant approach that modern societies pay attention to in the domains of culture, social sciences, management, economics, and environmental design is increasing the security of the urban environment in order to improve the use of the urban space. As a result, several criteria and standards should be considered in the design of urban environments to boost it. One strategy that promotes crime reduction via environmental design is the CPTED approach (Crime Prevention via Environmental Design). Siah-Poushan neighborhood in Dezful is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Dezful, and the lack of attention to environmental aspects has led inhabitants’ security, particularly women, to be connected with danger. As a result, the primary purpose of this research is to identify unique patterns of boosting women’s security in the city, increasing their active engagement in the city, and establishing a sense of belonging to the area. This study’s premise is that there appears to be a substantial difference in the priority of elements impacting women’s urban security. This study attempted to examine the neighborhood’s security level utilizing a descriptive analytical approach and documentary data, a literature review, field observations, and questionnaire distribution, as well as the SPSS 22, Google Earth, and GIS 10.8 software. The multiple regression test findings show that the “Accessibility” index, with a beta of 0.287, has the highest influence on women’s perceived security in the Siah-Poushan neighborhood. Other study indicators, such as “territoriality,” “natural monitoring,” “activity protection,” and “management and maintenance,” were evaluated with betas of 0.285, 0.253, 0.238, and 0.221 as influencing factors on the research’s dependent variable.
