Proposing an Urban Regeneration Model to Enhance Urban Resilience: A Case of Sanandaj

Abstract :
This research aimed to develop a regeneration model to enhance the urban resilience of Sanandaj. It is applied in purpose and descriptive-analytical in nature. Data were collected using a researcher-designed questionnaire, and the analysis involved Friedman’s test, correlation analysis, and the t-test. The findings indicated that the average regeneration index in Sanandaj was 2.99, which was below average. Focal correlation analysis revealed that among the dimensions of urban regeneration, the social dimension (34%), physical dimension (27%), economic dimension (24%), and environmental dimension (15%) have varying impacts on urban resilience. Path analysis further showed that the physical dimension, with a weight of 0.362, exerts the most influence, while the institutional dimension, with a weight of 0.278, has the least impact. The proposed model emphasizes sustainable, community-oriented development, poverty alleviation, empowerment, and strategic and operational planning, incorporating discursive, participatory, and public-private partnerships based on justice, community-oriented institutional capacity building, and internal development.
