A Short Story in Baluchi Language from the Hosey-e Kord-e Šabestarī Cycle

Abstract :

The paper presents a small text in the Sarāwānī dialect of Baluchi about the famous hero Hoseyn-e Kord. The Baluchi story is a well-known episode from the cycle of Hoseyn-e Kord-e Šabestarī, where the hero shows his supernatural strength and gains a high social status. At the same time, for the Kord tribe in Iranian Baluchistan, Hoseyn-e Kord is not only a folkloric personage, but features as an eponym, the legendary forefather of the tribesman.The paper presents a small text in the Sarāwānī dialect of Baluchi about the famous hero Hoseyn-e Kord.
