A comparative study of semantic deviance in romantic masnavis of Amir Khosro Dehlavi and Nezami Ganjavi

Abstract :
Norm avoidance is one of the topics of discussion in the field of rhetorical sciences, which is actually a kind of escape from the normal norm of speech, and this escape from the logic of speech causes creation of beauty and defamiliarization. When the poet departs from the normal form of language, he resorts to techniques that are in the field of semantic deviation, such as: simile, metaphor, irony, permission, diagnosis, paradox, and good explanation. These spiritual crafts exist in the court of many great poets of Persian literature, including Nizami (poet of Iraqi style) and Amir Khosrow Dehlavi (poet of Indian style). We know Amir Khosro Dehlavi, one of the famous Persian literature of the Indian subcontinent, as one of the best military imitators of Ganjavi. In this research, based on the descriptive-analytical method, the comparison of two romantic masnavas by Nizami, named "Laili and Majnoon" and "Sweet Khosrow" with "Majonun and Laili" and "Shirin and Khosrow" by Amir Khosro Dehlavi. Also, several cases of literary arts in the romantic poems of these two poets have been examined. The main purpose of this research is to clarify the methods and techniques of semantic avoidance in the romantic masnavis of these two poets and its effect on the charm and depth of their poems. The results of the research show that both poets have been able to increase the semantic and aesthetic richness of their poems by using semantic norm avoidance, but their methods have differences in this field.
