Abstract :
The application of Energy absorbing systems in the structures are one of the main methods in attenuation of earthquake effects. In this paper, the vibration control of structures by using of tube inversion systems is considered. In this novel system, the energy is dissipated by the inversion of a metal tube. This energy dissipater has large energy absorbing capacity along with constant stiffness and yield limit, until the end of its absorption capacity. The tube inversion absorber has been already tested successfully in the earthquake engineering laboratory of Urmia University. The results were approving of a good performance for this system in in the developed. This program is able to simulate the behavior of the structures, equipped by this system, under any applied base excitation. The numerical studies by this program show that the vibration of structures could be mitigated considerably by using of the tube inversion system. The results of analysis for a multi story are indicationg that there are more than sixty percents reductions in the drifts (and obviously stresses) of the structure, when the tube inversion systems are applied in. These studies show that such a equipped structure can tolerate almost four successive severe earthquake, before the absorption capacity of absorbers end.
