Abstract :
Today, the presence of different individuals and groups with different ideas and behaviors and having a peaceful, nonviolent life is one of the most important factors in society. Irreversibility is of particular importance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between social tolerance and its indicators as independent variables and the incidence of violence as a dependent variable. The research method is survey and the research instrument is questionnaire. The population consisted of 184 to 65 year olds in Tehran, 384 of whom were selected using Cochran formula. The findings showed that there is a negative and inverse relationship between social tolerance and its indicators (public tolerance, ethnic tolerance, religious tolerance, national tolerance) with violence. Therefore, all the research hypotheses are confirmed. The results of structural equation modeling (AMOS) also showed that public tolerance index had the highest effect on violence rate (0/45) among independent variables of social tolerance. Overall, and based on the findings of the study, it can be said that social tolerance has been and has been one of the factors influencing violence in the public space and its absence can reduce or increase violence in the public space.
