Isotherm And Kinetics of Methylene Green Paint Adsorption from Aqueous Solutions by Sawdust Adsorber
Subject Areas : The Application of Chemistry in Environment
Keywords: sawdust, Langmuir, methyl green dye, Freundlich and Temkin isotherms,
Abstract :
in this study, Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherms were evaluated and by comparing the correlation coefficients (R2=0.9735) it was found that the Methyl green dye removal comply with Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order sorption kinetics and first-order and second-order sorption kinetics were evaluated and the results showed that the approved model comply with the pseudo-second order sorption kinetics (R2=0.9999). In this study, the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.9912, R2 of regression was 0.9816 and R2 of prediction was 0.9430. Based on ANOVA results and considering F-value and P-value (less than 5%) it was determined that model conditions were appropriate. Hence we conclude that Response Surface Method can be efficient for optimization of dye removal and sawdust is an effective adsorbent for removal of dye from aqueous solutions.
