Synthesis of 14-aryl-14H-di-benzo [a, j] xanthanes in the presence of guanidinium chloride as an organic catalyst under solvent-free conditions

Abstract :
In this study, the synthesis of 14-aryl-14H-di-benzo [a, j] xanthenes were performed using a simple, suitable and environmentally friendly method. The reaction was performed from a single-step concentration of 2-naphthol with aromatic aldehydes, which occurred under solvent-free conditions in the presence of the organic catalyst guanidinium chloride. The advantages of this reaction are its cleanliness, short reaction time, high efficiency of products and simple method of product synthesis. Products are also purified without the use of chromatographic methods.
