Abstract :
The natural water normally contains some salts, suspended as dissolved. Though, some of them, in limited content, are essential for human health, but the excessive amount may be hazardous. The aim of this study was to measure the chemical parameters of drinking water in rural area of Herris and compose with those of standards. This is a field study and was carried out from winter to spring of 2010. Thirty samples of water were collected and taken for tests using the standard techniques. A statistical analysis of data were carried on by applying the SPSS program. The study showed that the average water turbidity was less than one (in NTU), and pH values 7-7.8, which both are desi sable. The range of hardness was found to be about 23% more than allowed to be edible. The TDS, were more than the maximum allowed values. The nitrate and some other salt ions showed some unpermissible values. The whole remaining factor as EC, CaH,… showed some unfavourable values. It can be shown that, though the drinking water of rural area of Herris may not give rise to health problems, but, still dues not meet the standard benchmarks.
