Using Graphite to Verify The Presence of Some Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Canned Tomato Paste

Abstract :
Provision of safe food is the most important challenge of the present century. Medical expenses arising from the consumption of contaminated food that is imposed on society in the long term, could be very significant Thus, continuous monitoring of health food products has been the focus of attention of governments and regulatory agencies. In this study the possible presence of toxic substances such as benzene, toluene and Xylene which is part of aromatic hydrocarbons, in paste locally produced canned tomato were studied. For this purpose, purchased the products from the market and using gas chromatography, were analyzed their ingredients. The results of this study confirm the presence of these substances in a significant number of samples of paste products on the market revealed. of course, healthy and non-toxic aromatic products were also determined in infected samples is not significant.
