Abstract :
Language typology is a branch of linguistics studying the systemic difference between world’s languages and comparing morphological and syntactical structures among different languages regardless of their historical background. One of the main topics in this branch is word order based on which different languages are studied with respect to the order and sequence of constituents and the classification and comparison of languages is carried out based on these orders. This study aims to investigate the Luri dialect from the typological word order point of view in order to determine to which verb-medial or verb-final order it belongs. To this end, first the data of native speakers in Sisakht and nearby villages located in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province was collected and documented so as to analyze different structures of Luri language in accordance with Dryer’s 24 factors. The comparison of Luri language with world’s languages and European and Asian languages indicates that many structures in Luri dialect of Boyer-Ahmad are very similar to those of Persian. Moreover, the dominant tendency in this language is toward the strong verb-medial languages compared to both European, Asian and world’s languages. In comparison to world’s languages, this language has 13 features of the strong verb-final languages and 19 features of the strong verb-medial languages. The same figure regarding the features is true in comparison with European and Asian languages.
