Demographic factors affecting the motivations of suicide by self-burnin (hospitalized in burn unit of zare hospital Sari-Iran)

Abstract :
Abstract self - Burning is also a method of suicide. Thus the individual, informed by burning their body tries to interrupt her life string. Several demographic factors can affect the motivation of self-immolation. Therefore, in this paper the effect of demographic variables such as age, gender, migration, marital status, age at marriage, during marriage, second marriage, divorce, and the number of children was investigated. This study was a descriptive and cross - sectional. The population of this study consisted of all the people who committed suicide by self-immolation in the burn hospital admissions are Shaid Zareh Sari. The sample in this study was the statistical community. In other words, all of burned people surveyed from October 2012 (Persian date Mehr 1388 to 1391 )to October 2009 during 36 months for various reasons have immolation. Collecting data in this study were obtained by interview and questionnaire. Based on the results of this study, the motivation of people for self-immolation 47/4 ٪ was emotionally , 31.6 ٪ was economicaly and 21.1 ٪ was psycological motivation. our study about relationship between demographic factors and motives of self-immolation showed that relationship between age, migration, marital status, duration of marriage, divorce, remarriage, the number of children motivated by self-immolation were signeficant. Also the result of this study showed that the relationship between gender and age and self-burning were not signeficant.
