Abstract :
Abstract The Safavid era in Iran coincided with the growth of international trade relations and interaction with European- East Indian companies. Safavid kings were so eager to establish relations with the East Indies, especially the Netherlands VOC, for various reasons. King Abbas I, which has the solely export authority; encouraged the sale of silk to Europe. But The expansion of Iran's foreign relations with the Dutch government during the kingdom of Shah Abbas and the gradual departure of Dutch political representatives to Iran led to a boom in Iranian foreign trade. The Dutch found that Iran could be a source of raw silk for European industries and factories. The purpose of this study is to explain the state of relations between the Safavid and Dutch governments. Some of the problems of Dutch-Safavid economic - relations may be related to the position of the Safavid kings as the sole directors of strategic goods such as silk and wine.
