Investigation the effectiveness of support group therapy by reality therapy approach on emotional control of divorced women victims of domestic violence

Abstract :
This research aimed to investigation the effectiveness of support group therapy by reality therapy approach on emotional control of divorced women victims of domestic violence. Present study was a semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The research population was divorced women victims of domestic violence of Tehran city in 2018 year. The research sample was 30 people that were selected by available sampling method and assigned into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group trained 10 of 80 minutes sessions (two sessions per week) and the control group received no training. Data collected with the Roger and Najjarian's revised emotional control questionnaires (1989) and analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance method with SPSS version-22 software. The results showed that support group therapy by reality therapy approach significantly improved emotional inhibition, rumination or rehearsal and benign control of divorced women victims of domestic violence, but there was no significant effect on the their aggression control (P<0/05). Regarding to the results, for improve the emotional control of divorced women victims of domestic violence can be used from the method of support group therapy by reality therapy approach.
