Abstract :
the Testaments and the Qur'an. However, it has appeared 92 times in the Qur'an and one time in the TestamentsThe root (Hokm) exists in most branches of the Semitic language with a similar structure and meaning. One of the derivatives of this root is the word "Hakim" which has various usages in the Testaments and the Qur'an. This study using a library-based method on comparative historical linguistics examined the root of (Hokm) in the branches of the Semitic language with structural and semantic analysis and its applications in the Testaments and the Qur'an and finding the differences and commonalities. Additionally, this study examines the semantics of the given word considering the cohabitation relationships in the Qur'an and the Testaments. Results evidenced that the semantic ranges of "Hakim" have been restricted over time. Moreover, the findings indicated that the word “Hakim” has been used to describe God in both the Testaments and the Qur'an. However, it has appeared 92 times in the Qur'an and one time in the Testaments.
