Abstract :
There are several problems in water treatment and current methods are not responder to our demands in this field and they have weakness and shortage .Thus we should remove these defects. This article gives a brief overview of the use of nanotechnology to solve the common problems in surface water, ground water and wastewater treatment. Nanotechnology is the engineering and art of manipulating matter at the nanoscale (1-100 nm). This research examined several procedures based on nano: - Carbon nanotube (CNTs): for removal metal oxides, organic pollutants and biological contaminants. - Nanofiltration: Removal ions and turbidity in larger scale, disinfecting and softening. - Solar photocatalyze which is much cheaper than common methods in water purification and is executable in remote regions without electricity. - Tio2(Titanium Dioxide): is very efficient in removal organisms such as Clostridium which is resistant against Chlorine. Also it is possible to remove heavy metals, insecticides, herbicides, bacteria, Arsenic, . .. from surface water, ground water and wastewater by Nanotechnology. Conclusion showed that using all mentioned methods based on Nano in water treatment , gives the opportunity for protecting water supplies and improving its quality and eliminates current methods defects. Nanotechnology not only solves all these problems, but also is inexpensive and executable in everywhere even in remote regions, which are without electricity.
