Abstract :
Background and Objectives: In the contemporary world, a variety of approaches and concepts such as livability and safe city have been used to solve urban problems. Viability of a place is affected by a variety of factors including: attendancy, urban infrastructure and facilities, sense of belonging, efficiency and environment. It should also be noted that crime rates (actual) and fear of criminal victimization (perception) have a causal relationship with many health and well-being outcomes. The present study was an attempt to assess the social security- urban livability interaction (in both objective and subjective dimensions) in Feyzabad neighborhood of Kermanshah. Security and livability criteria were formulated hierarchically and in tabular format, respectively.
Material and Methodology The present study falls within the category of applied studies and can be recognized as a descriptive-analytical study and a correlational factor analysis in terms of methodology. The sample size was estimated to be 395 (p=5%) and the questionnaires were distributed among samples through simple random distribution.
Findings: The findings suggest that there is a significant positive correlation between social security and objective - subjective urban livability. According to the viewpoint of residents, urban livability and social security in Feyzabad neighborhood are at moderate-to-weak and low levels, respectively.
Discussion and Conclusion: The results show that any rise in livability indicators in a neighborhood, can lead to enhancement of security sense. Therefore, cultural and social planners and other relevant institutions are advised to promote the sense of security through careful planning and enhancement of the livability indicators mentioned in the present study.
