A meta-analysis of family studies in the area of strengthening factors and erosive factors among Iranian families

Abstract :
Objective of the research: Family, as the most basic and important member of the social institutions, provides the indispensible needs of human beings and plays an undeniable role in the upbringing of the generations and the transfer of cultures and values. From a historical standpoint, family-orientation in Iran is one of the indexes of the values of cultural systems. The unavoidable changes in the new period can affect the family's structure and functions. The aim of this research is to combine and merge the results of accomplished researches in the realm of family so as to identify of strengthening and erosive factors in Iranian families. Method: This research is practical in objective and is of meta-analysis nature in terms of the documentary method of studying. The statistical sample is 64 research-based works concerning the factors affecting the family institution which have been gathered up to the point the data is complete. Findings and Results: The results of the research showed that most works are scientifically endorsed in terms of having common theories. Due to the reliance on particular variables, there is a kind of reductionism in the study. There is a need for a more solid and comprehensive theory-making in the analysis of the family institution in the ecosystem of the Iranian-Islamic culture. In the final analysis, a specific pattern of the factors affecting the family was derived, which is the result of the factors being analyzed by the researchers, in 11 subject topics which are as follows in order of priority: "cultural factors( includes Faith, beliefs and moral Values), family cooperation, mental and physical well-being, individual growth, the manner of managing the family life, the economic affairs and financial well-being, the cultural, social and political climate of the country, the age difference between the couples, the duration of matrimonial relationship, public services and transport and the consideration of society's sanitations".
