Abstract :

Social welfare, as one of the fundamental components of sustainable development, plays a central role in improving the quality of life in rural communities. The present study aims to conduct a sociological analysis of the cultural and social factors influencing the enhancement of social welfare in the rural areas of Dashti County. The research method is quantitative and survey-based, and a grounded theory approach was employed to identify the influential factors. The statistical population consisted of 5,700 residents aged 18 to 60, along with local officials (village heads and council members) from 95 villages in Dashti County. Using the cluster sampling method and Cochran’s formula, a sample of 360 participants was selected. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire comprising 28 items measuring social welfare and 104 items assessing economic, social, environmental, and psychological factors. The instrument’s validity was confirmed through the Delphi method, and its reliability was verified using Cronbach’s alpha coefficients (0.856 and 0.878). Data were analyzed using SPSS (version 26) and SmartPLS (version 4) software, applying tests such as Cronbach’s alpha, convergent and discriminant validity, coefficients of determination (R²), predictive relevance (Q²), and overall model fit (GOF). The findings indicated that social (path coefficient = 0.513), economic (0.468), and environmental (0.813) factors had significant effects on social welfare, while psychological factors (0.007) showed no significant effect. This lack of significance is likely due to the weakness of psychological empowerment programs at the rural level. The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.887) showed that 88.7% of the variance in social welfare is explained by the independent variables. Accordingly, the results emphasize the necessity of strengthening social, economic, and environmental infrastructures to enhance welfare, promote sustainable rural development, and reduce social inequalities in Dashti County.
