Abstract :
The Purpose of the research study was to predict body dysmorphic disorder based on self-esteem and cyberspace addiction in female students. The research method was correlational and the statistical population included all female high school students in Hashtgerd city in 1403-1404. In the present study, 266 female students were selected by simple random sampling based on the Cochran formula. The research tools in this study included three questionnaires for body dysmorphic disorder: Phillips et al. (1997), Rosenberg self-esteem (1965), and Young's Internet addiction (1988). In order to examine the research hypotheses, regression analysis was used using the SPSS 26 software, observing the assumptions of this analysis. The results of the regression analysis showed that 41% of the changes in body dysmorphic disorder depend on the variables of self-esteem and cyberspace addiction, and the self-esteem variable with a negative coefficient (pv<0.01) and beta (-0.270) and cyberspace addiction (pv<0.01) with a positive coefficient and beta (0.467) entered the regression equation of body dysmorphic disorder in female students. Therefore, it can be concluded that the presence of self-esteem can reduce body dysmorphic disorder and cyberspace addiction increases body dysmorphic disorder in female students.
