Abstract :
The purpose of school health is to raise healthy children. School principals can be considered the main drivers in achieving the goal of student health and help improve the health status of students and the community. The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance of elementary school principals in Karaj city in the field of health and wellness. The present research method is descriptive and survey. The statistical population included all public and non-public elementary school principals in Karaj Education and Training in the academic year 1401-1402, of which 269 people were randomly selected using cluster sampling. The tool of this study included a researcher-made school health and wellness questionnaire. The data were analyzed using one-sample t-tests and Friedman's test using SPSS26 software. The results showed that the performance of principals in the areas of providing physical school environment health, classroom environment health, school and classroom safety, and students' nutritional health was at the desired level. The results of the Friedman ranking test showed that the highest performance scores of principals were given based on priority in the fields of school environment health, classroom health, nutritional health, and safety, respectively. It can be concluded that principals can play a fundamental role in ensuring school health, but they should pay more attention to observing school safety and nutritional hygiene. Therefore, it is recommended to consider special incentives and motivators for school principals with higher scores in the area of health performance and providing appropriate health facilities.
